Overtones can be tricky, but once you know these basics, you’ll always be able to pick up the right pearls!
Rose can be a pale to deeper pink tone over the white body color of the pearl. Blondes and light Brunettes with pale skin look best in this hue. Mikimoto’s specializes in this overtone, and it is our second most popular.
Silver is the closest to a true, bright white color (as the caption states), and has a tinge of blue or green undertone giving the pearl a slightly ethereal look. Brunettes and women with black hair, or tan and olive complexions look great in this overtone as the pearls will contrast with their skin and hair and appear larger and brighter than they are. Tiffany’s specializes in the silver overtone, and it is our most popular by far.
My personal favorite! Cream is ideal for redheads and older women with grey or silver hair, and those with pink undertones to the skin (i.e. they blush easily!). The cream overtone has a dash of warm French Vanilla over the white body color, which deepens the luster and makes the pearls appear brighter and more lustrous. Cream works really well with yellow gold clasps and findings.
