For the last three and a half years that I have headed the Production Office at Pure I have met more than my fair share of wonderful people and seen some stunning jewelry- indeed, it’s been an easy slice of time, working here! The customers-turned-friends, the letters, the Art, and the joy of creation: bringing the elements of Nature, design and vision together into a single finished work of art! I think of all these things, and I wanted to say Thank You. To each and every one of you- working with you has been a privilege and a pleasure, and I am very much mindful that without you, there would be no Pure, and my little world would be that much greyer.

January, 2010 is bringing with it many exciting changes- changes that Pure has needed, and changes that many of you have suggested. PurePearls.com has been sold (!!) to a very fine gentleman from Kentucky named Bruce Turner, whom I’d like to take a moment to introduce to you. A former investment banker and family man, Bruce decided to take on the many challenges of owning a small online business and I am very pleased to have him here! The transaction took place in early November, and was quite a big surprise for all involved. Amanda is doing very well- we definitely keep in touch- but she did decide that it was time for her to move on from Pure. Bruce has some exciting new ideas for the website, and we are looking forward to a total site redesign!

In the next coming months you can expect to see a new, improved website, featuring bright, crisp, new pictures and innovative new jewelry selections in addition to our long-standing classics. A more convenient shopping experience, greater user accessibility and an emphasis on updated graphics and layout are all features that we consider top priorities- and again, I’d very much like your ideas, thoughts and critiques as we begin a new chapter for PurePearls.com! My door (or phone, or email!) is always open, and I look forward to hearing from each and every one of you as we begin a new chapter and a brand new Year at Pure. I have an absolutely gorgeous necklace of Champagne-colored White South Seas pearls that I’d like to feature for July; graduating from 12.0-13.0mm, these large pearls’ display some truly intense Orient and Luster, which brings into play that iridescence which is so hard to pin down in trying to describe it verbally… The word Electric comes to mind for these pearls- I see pinks, violets and creams that literally seem to crackle and snap with vitality. The clarity, color and luster of these pearls all combine to make this strand a solid AAA Quality. Summer is nearly here, and with it- Wedding Season! I know, I know- brides get married all the time, but with the endless blue summer skies, greenery, flowers and sunshine, the summer months always seem so… perfect for tying the knot. The latest custom design piece pictured below was dreamt up by one of our lovely brides to be (in June- congratulations, Mary!), and it turned out so lovely that I’d thought I’d share with you. The double-strand pearl bracelet consists of our gorgeous Elite Collection Freshwater pearls, 7.0-8.0mm, White with a Subtle Ivory Overtone and very crisp, sharp luster; she chose to finish the bracelet using our Diamond Double Figure Eight clasp in 18K Gold, which I think lends a very Old-World, Victorian-era feel to the whole piece. We are involved in creating another custom piece of jewelry for a customer of ours, and before we get too into the nitty gritty of it all I wanted to share with everyone the preliminary layouts… There are to be 15 gemstones to represent children and grandchildren in the necklace- the two center top stones are gorgeous Brazilian Emeralds, and below it is a rare Brazilian Alexandrite.

Brazilian Alexandrite is the birthstone for June (besides pearls!), and is a color-changing Chrysoberyl. In daylight, this stone has a saturated Tourmaline Green coloration, but under incandescent or candlelight, this gem shifts to a Raspberry Reddish/Purple! The next stones are White Sapphires (not diamonds), Peridot, Aquamarine, Tanzanite, Cirtrines, Ruby and Garnet. Each one of the stones will be bezel set in 14K Yellow gold and soldered together in clusters of three. Then, we will hand-string them into the 6.0-7.0mm Elite Freshwater pearls at set intervals which I think will lend the piece a slight Renaissance feel, and finish with a gold clasp. 

The finished necklace is going to be given by a family to their 80-year old mother in honor of a lifetime of love and memories. I am so proud to be a part of this special moment, and in creating a keepsake that will pass through generations of family members! I hope you all enjoy looking at this as much as I do, and remember to keep us in mind for future dream projects of yours!!
